Pulled Pork Sandwiches
Ingredients: - 3-4 lbs (1.4-1.8 kg) pork shoulder or pork butt - 1 cup BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade) - 1/4 cup brown sugar - 2 tablespoons paprika - 1 tablespoon garlic powder - 1 tablespoon onion powder - 1 tablespoon salt - 1 tablespoon black pepper - Hamburger buns or sandwich rolls - Coleslaw (optional, for serving) Instructions: 1. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. This will be your dry rub. 2. Rub the dry rub generously all over the pork shoulder or pork butt, coating it on all sides. 3. Place the seasoned pork in a slow cooker or crockpot. Cover and cook on low heat for 8-10 hours or on high heat for 4-6 hours. The pork should be very tender and easily shred with a fork when done. 4. Once the pork is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and transfer to a cutting board. Shred the meat using two forks, discarding any excess fat. 5. In a saucepan over medium heat, warm the BBQ sauce until heated through. Add the shredded pork to the sauce and stir to coat it evenly. Cook for an additional 5-10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together. 6. To assemble the sandwiches, place a generous amount of the pulled pork onto a hamburger bun or sandwich roll. Top with coleslaw, if desired, and serve warm.
